Susan Schmitz is a highly-skilled healthcare professional with a solid, extensive clinical background holding a variety of clinical management positions as well as CDI roles. She has done CDI consulting for Navigant, Accretive Health, and most recently with JA Thomas. She has been involved with reassessing, implementing and managing CDI Programs at numerous prestigious hospitals and health systems across the US including Long Island Jewish, Cedar Sinai Medical Center, Poudre Valley Health System, (currently University of Colorado Health System), UCLA, Hoag Memorial Health System in Newport Beach, CA, and currently at Kaiser Health System in Pasadena, California.

Susan received her law degree from the University of Denver, in Denver Colorado and her BSN from The University of Northern Colorado. Currently she holds her CCS, CCDS, CDIP, and is an AHIMA Approved ICD-10 CM/PCS Trainer/Ambassador.

Get an insider’s perspective on the Guidelines for Achieving a Compliant Query Practice (2019 Update) brief that was released in February by ACDIS and AHIMA, from an expert who helped create it.  Attendees of this webinar will:

  • Learn about the role of prior encounters in queries
  • Gain insights into how and when to write compliant queries in open-ended, multiple choice and yes/no formats.
  • Increase their understanding of how to make appropriate and effective use of clinical indicators in queries
  • Enhance their knowledge of query program policies, procedures and best practices
