This workshop will be an all day event intended for the advanced CDI professional who wishes to advance their career in CDI, expanding their breadth and depth of knowledge and skill sets in achieving clinical documentation excellence through understanding, recognizing and application of best practice standards and principles of clinical documentation. This dynamic workshop will consist of interactive discussion with attendee participation using real case studies to highlight, showcase and drive home the standards of physician documentation that effectively communicates fully informed, coordinated patient centered care that patients expect and deserve. Strategies and techniques of chart review incorporating a holistic view identifying documentation insufficiencies and oversights in an effort at achieving preemptive documentation improvement will be shared using real case studies. By attending this highly informative workshop, attendees will be able to well equipped to successfully make the transition from Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists to Facilitator in Communication of Patient Care, truly making a difference in promoting, advocating for and achieving a medical record that clearly and succinctly describes and tells the patient story, demonstrates and establishes medical necessity for level of care, shows patient clinical progress, summarizes the patient encounter at discharge including all relevant clinical diagnoses and achieves optimal reimbursement with alleviation of financial and compliance concerns.
