Just as a crisis can become dangerous when a person becomes overwhelmed with suffering, causing them to adapt in negative ways, it can also bring about resilience, hope, and societal change. In this session, we’ll take a look at the ripple effect of the most common precipitating factors in acute crises, their role in weakening or strengthening crisis intervention efforts in the short and long-term, and how some of the most fundamental intervention efforts can make the biggest impact. Catherine began her mental health career working briefly in long-term care and later, substance use and dual diagnosis inpatient and residential settings. She ultimately made her way to the heart of crisis intervention and suicide prevention at Contact Community Services, Inc. where she is passionate about fostering hope, connection, and resilience of those struggling and the communities, professionals, and the loved ones who support them. |
