QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training1 CEUDescriptionQPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is an evidence-based, skill building suicide prevention gatekeeper training designed for individuals who interact with those at risk for suicide. QPR teaches about suicide warning signs, risk factors, and discusses myths and facts about suicide. Trainees will be able to recognize someone at risk of suicide, be able to intervene with those at risk, refer them to appropriate resources, and offer hope. Featured SpeakerBehavioral Health Coordinator Fort Drum Regional Health Timothy "Tim" Fayette joined the FDRHPO team as Behavioral Health Coordinator in 2023. In this role, Tim facilitates the Behavioral Health Committee, coordinates the Jefferson County Suicide Prevention Coalition, and leads the organization’s behavioral health initiatives, including the SAMHSA Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) grant deliverables such as Mental Health First Aid trainings for youth, adults, and fire/EMS providers. Prior to joining FDRHPO, Tim worked at the Victim’s Assistance Center as Outreach Coordinator/Advocate and the Watertown Urban Mission before that. Tim has training in mental health, addiction, and victim advocacy, and is a certified trainer in multiple curriculums including Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid, QPR Suicide Prevention, Bridges Out of Poverty and Bridges to Health and Healthcare, Getting Ahead, and Tending the Roots Trauma-Informed Training. Tim is also pursuing accreditation to become a NYSOMH Therapeutic Relationships and Universal Safety Training (TRUST) instructor in October. Tim is active within the community as the Vice President of the North Country Affordable Housing Board of Directors, a member of NCPPC Board of Directors, a member of the United Way of NNY Peer Grants Review Committee and serves on the "Bridges Out of Poverty" Steering Committee. |
