This webinar will talk about AI and its applications in healthcare. We will briefly describe the history of AI, the rise of Generative AI and Large-Language Models, and how they might be useful in meeting the challenges of healthcare, as well as their limitations.

Hamid R. Ekbia is University Professor and Director of Autonomous Systems Policy Institute at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University. He studies the social, economic, and cultural aspects of AI and computing, and has authored a number of books on these topics, including Artificial Dreams: The Quest for Non-Biological Intelligence (Cambridge University Press, 2008), Heteromation and Other Stories of Computing and Capitalism(MIT Press, 2017), Big Data Is Not a Monolith(MIT Press, 2016), and Universal Access and Its Asymmetries: The Untold Story of the Last 200 Years  (MIT Press 2023).
