In this session we will discuss the definition and benefits of risk adjustment, the innerworkings of the risk adjustment methodology, the importance of accurate coding and documentation of chronic conditions, as well as industry trends and audit risk and compliance.

Entering the medical field in 2001, she began her career as a certified transcriptionist, specializing in primary care and orthopedics. Following that, Janice spent 16 years at a busy upstate NY practice, and this is where she began coding, achieving her CPC in 2014. In 2019 she took a leap and joined an amazing team in their fast-growing Risk Adjustment department. It was there that Janice found her passion in education, and now serves as a Risk Adjustment Coding and Education Specialist, with her focus on providing clinician education to our provider partners and their coding teams. As an approved instructor, she enjoys teaching for both CPC and CRC, and mentoring students to confidently sit for their certification exam, and succeed in their coding career. In addition to presenting throughout the industry, Janice also teaches an introduction to Coding & Billing to Physician Assistant classes in the university setting. 

Outside of the office, you will find Janice in her garden or traveling and adventuring with her family.
