Meet the 2023-24 NYHIMA Board Candidates

Voting is open until May 1 for the following positions on the NYHIMA Board of Directors for 2023-24:

President Elect

Stacy White (CNYHIMA)

Stacy White is the health information-coding manager at Cayuga medical center with 11 years of experience in coding, 7-year remote working experience, and going on 2 years of managing a team of 18+ coders. Specializing in managing the team remotely while focusing on building a productive coding team.

By focusing on coding, Stacy has been able to put the health information management and coding associate degree she earned at Bryan University to good use.

Over the years Stacy’s strengths at Cayuga have garnered some recognition, and she was promoted to manager when coding was brought back in house at Cayuga, working alongside her system director building the coding department from the ground up within the fully remote setting. Stacy may spend her days keeping coding on track for Cayuga, but it’s the team building that she is passionate about.

When she’s not managing her team, Stacy is an avid painter and loves spending time with her husband, David, and two kids, Rebecca, 15, and Owen, 9.


1st Year Education Director

Leslie Mills (HIMANNY)\

Leslie is the Director of Health Information Management at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg. Prior to becoming the Director, she spent 10 years working as a health information technician and prior to that as the medical records manager at a health care clinic.

With more than 20 years of experience in the field,  her interest in Health Information Management began in 1997 while working as the Office Manager for a health care clinic. 

After receiving her RHIT credential in 2000, she went back to college in 2012 and received her  bachelor of science degree in health sciences, which enabled her to test for her RHIA credential.

Leslie’s work experience also includes acting as a consultant for multiple Article 28 health care clinics.

She has volunteered with her local  association, HIMANNY (Health Information Management of Northern New York) since 2000, serving in each role on its board, some positions more than once.

 Leslie is the mother of three boys and “Mimi” to three grandsons. She volunteers year-round for their many sporting activities and also enjoys snowshoeing. 


Finance Director

Sandra Macica (AdHIMA)

Sandra Macica, MS, RHIA, CCS has been an HIM professional for more than 30 years, working in hospitals, creating and providing HIM education both online and in-person, and HIM related consulting.

 As a consultant, she has provided education to clients with regard to inpatient, outpatient and physician coding issues, documentation improvement and DRG and APC assignment and reimbursement, as well as compiling and analyzing data from client projects

Her current position is with Trinity Health of New England where she is a Coding Compliance Specialist. At Trinity she works primarily on DRG and RAC appeals and denials.

She has been active with AdHIMA and NYHIMA where she has provided many education sessions and held several board positions including that of President. She is currently serving on the NYHIMA Board as Finance Director and has been the recipient of the NYHIMA Distinguished Member and Author’s Awards.

 Sandy received her RHIA after attending SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica. She holds an associate's degree in medical record technology from Alfred State College and a master’s in health service administration from Sage College in Albany.


AHIMA Delegate-at-Large

Angie Minikhiem (CNYHIMA)

Angie has more than 20 years’ experience in most areas of HIM. Most recently, she became the coding supervisor for Health Information Management at Cayuga Medical Center where she helps supervise a fully remote coding team.

Angie earned her associate's degree in HIT from Onondaga Community College, and soon after, she earned her RHIT through AHIMA. 

In her free time, Angie enjoys baking and spending time with her husband, Robert, and their 14-year-old daughter, Kaylee, along with other extended family members.
